The Kookaburra is an exciting new design created especially for the AQC 2026 by Legit Kits.
All students will be working on the same project — a brand-new pattern designed especially for Australian quilters and launching exclusively at AQC 2026.

The pattern will be available for purchase directly from Miriam at the start of the class.

It is a full pattern Foundation Paper Piecing project. Finished size will be 30 inches x 40 inches consisting of 16 blocks.
You will be learning how to read the pattern, where to start, how to organise this project, most logical steps in working these patterns, cutting and sewing techniques for FPP and how it all comes together.
We will start on an easy block and also tackle a difficult block. Outcome after two days is that you will have completed four blocks and are confident in doing the rest at home.
Skill level: Suits all but will be more catered towards foundation piecing beginners.
Class Requirements

Two-day Class: Saturday, Sunday April 11, 12
Class times: 9am to 5pm
Materials fee: There are options for the fabric – see below.
Purchase of the pattern is essential – the pattern price is $109 payable direct to Miriam at the start of the class.
Please have the exact amount in cash in an envelope with your name on it to give to Miriam at the start of the class.
For Fabric, there are 2 Options.
Option 1: Bring Your Own Fabric
You’re welcome to supply your own fabric, provided it is labelled and pre-cut to the required sizes.

Option 2: Pre-cut & Labelled Fabric Kit
Legit Kits have also prepared beautifully cut, labelled, and boxed fabric kits using a mix of their favourite blenders, solids, Moda Grunge, and batik ‘solids’.

General Sewing Supplies
You will need to bring:
- Scissors for paper and fabric
- Cutting mat, rotary cutter
- Normal ruler and a 12” Add a Quarter ruler
- Pin and/or binding clips.
- Unpicker, quilting sewing machine needles.
- Neutral coloured thread 80wt Decobob is preferred.
Sewing machines will be provided.
To complete the project at home you will need backing fabric and batting.
