Create the centre piece of your next quilt, a wall hanging or cushion cover, any fanciful thing. All you need is your inner six-year-old; the one who NEVER said “I can’t draw”, never said “I don’t have a creative bone in my body”.
That six-year-old can do anything and so can you. Learn to sketch your own exuberant rooster, to cut templates, to choose fabric, to make your own unique design. And learn some clever applique techniques and tricks along the way.
“But I really can’t draw”. I can’t draw either. But I can make large bold marks on paper. And so can you. Our bold marks are just a step towards showing off our beautiful fabric and our excellent stitching skills – in our own inimitable styles.
Skill level: If you can hold a pencil, if you can thread a needle, you can do this workshop
Materials fee: $10 includes freezer paper and extra fabric scraps.

Class times: 9am to 5pm

Bring for Sketching
- HB pencil, Rubber, Sharpener
- A3 Graph paper drawing pad (4×4 grid)
Bring for Sewing
- 2 pre-cut backgrounds 50cm x 50cm
- (When choosing your background, keep in mind how you’d like to use this block – centre piece of a new quilt, wall hanging, cushion cover, apron)
- Your favourite fabric scraps
