Theme: Chaos or Harmony
The AQC Challenge 2027 invites quilters from around the world to explore the theme Chaos or Harmony. Whether your style is traditional, contemporary or somewhere in between, this prestigious juried competition celebrates creative expression, innovative design and exceptional craftsmanship.
Finalists will be exhibited at the Australasian Quilt Convention 2027 and on tour at selected Craft & Quilt events throughout the year.
This is your opportunity to showcase your work, challenge your creativity and compete for $5,500 in prize money.
- First Prize: $3,500
- Runner-Up Prize: $1,500
- Viewers’ Choice Award: $500
Entry Fee: $30 per quilt. Maximum of two entries per person or group.
THEME
The 2027 theme is Chaos or Harmony.
Your quilt may be traditional or contemporary and should creatively interpret the theme through design, colour, technique and storytelling.
Judging will be based on:
- Interpretation of the theme
- Excellence in design
- Craftsmanship
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible:
- Open to all entrants
- Quilt must be completed between August 2026 and February 2027
- Work must be original
- Quilt must measure 90cm x 90cm (2cm variance permitted)
- Quilt must consist of three layers joined with stitching
- Any quilting techniques and materials may be used

You’ll need:
- Completed online entry form
- One full-view high-resolution image (2MB-4MB)
- One detailed close-up image (2MB-4MB)
Entry Deadline: February 1, 2027
FINALIST INFORMATION
A panel of judges will review all entries and invite selected entrants to submit their physical quilt for finalist judging.
Approximately 30 finalists will be selected for exhibition at:
- Australasian Quilt Convention, Melbourne
- April 15-18, 2027
- Selected Craft & Quilt Fairs throughout 2027
