Bias Blocks & Bold Design
TUTOR: JEMIMA FLENDT
Through the Dream Maker quilt design, students will master a range of advanced yet approachable quilting skills that elevate their technique. They’ll explore Log Cabin blocks reimagined in a modern format, learning how to play with scale, colour, and negative space for bold, contemporary impact.
As they piece the quilt ‘on point’, they’ll develop confidence in working with diagonal layouts and setting triangles, gaining a deeper understanding of quilt construction and alignment.
Crucially, students will also learn to manage blocks set on the bias — honing skills in fabric handling, accurate cutting, and careful pressing to maintain shape and prevent distortion.
These techniques come together to build precision, boost creativity, and expand each quilter’s toolkit for future projects.
