Taking Liberties
TUTOR: MEGAN MANWARING
Megan will use her quilt, Taking Liberties: a contemporary sampler, to lead participants in a two day deep-dive into the use of acrylic templates coupled with freezer paper foundation piecing and string piecing as well as hand applique, English paper piecing and other machine pieced blocks.
At the end of two days, participants will have made a start on each of the blocks that make up this striking take on a traditional sampler quilt and will be able to take their time at home to complete all the blocks and piece the quilt over the following winter months.
Megan will also guide participants on her design decisions embedded in the quilt to empower participants to use the techniques to put their own spin on the sampler.
Megan used an interesting low volume background print and an assortment of Liberty prints but participants can use their favourite fabrics that they already have.
Skill level: Suits all though some patchwork experience would be advantageous
