CLASS REQUIREMENTS

Contemporary Fabric Art with Paintstiks with Ana Buzzalino

One-day Class: Thursday, April 10
Class times:  10am to 5pm

Students need to bring:

Fabric:

  • Paintstiks can be used on any type of fabric:  cotton, silk, organza, batiks, etc
    • For class, 100% cotton fabric works best
    • Consider bringing smaller pieces of different fabrics to try the Paintstiks on and have different samples for future reference.
  • As a minimum have 1 metre of white fabric and/or 1 metre of black fabric for class, so you can try the Paintstiks on both and see how they look.
    • Black looks especially nice if you have a few metallic Paintstiks and lighter colours.  You can also use navy or a dark colored fabric instead of black.
    • Or work on a larger piece to build with all the techniques:  1 metre works perfectly
  • Before class:  Please pre-wash (preferably) your fabrics and iron flat, especially if you are planning on washing your fabrics after heat-setting.

NOTE:  How many pieces of fabric you end up with depends on how fast you work, especially if you are working with smaller pieces of fabric or fat quarters. Bring some extra fabric to have on hand in case you need it.

Paintstiks: Your choice of how many to use during class.

  • Paintstiks come in solid and metallic colours
    • 2-3 Paintstiks is ample to give them a try and get used to the feel of them and how they work.
    • Having 3 different colours will give you more variety.
    • If you only have one, you’ll have a beautiful monochromatic piece.
