TUTOR: LORENA URIARTE
Starman transforms just two colour palettes into a cosmic explosion of twinkling stars and unexpected secondary patterns.
In this one-day workshop, you’ll explore how colour and value work together to create transparency effects, depth and movement within the design.
We’ll use acrylic templates and a rotary cutter for accurate cutting and precise machine piecing, with plenty of attention given to choosing fabrics and achieving sharp points.
The workshop uses the large 16-inch block template set, allowing your design to come together quickly.
You’ll learn how to arrange the blocks and use colour and value to reveal the secondary patterns.
Set your blocks on point with side and corner triangles to create a finished quilt approximately 68 x 68 inches or make additional blocks for a larger 90 x 90 inches.

Class times: 9am to 5pm
Materials fee: $75
Payable direct to the tutor. Please have the exact amount in cash in an envelope with your name on it.
The kit includes:
- Printed colour pattern
- Acrylic template set.
This supply list is based on a finished quilt top measuring 68” or 90” square.
This project explores how colour and value can be used to create the illusion of transparency and reveal a striking secondary pattern.
Choose two complementary colours in three values: light, medium and darks.
In the image below, Colour One is Blue and Colour Two is Red.
