FRANKIE & DEE: THE ART OF TOY MAKING
TUTOR: JODIE CARLETON
Frankie is a lion with a lot going on: a spectacular mane, button-jointed limbs and plenty of personality. Working with beautiful 100% new wool felt, you’ll spend two days creating Frankie from start to finish while learning construction and finishing techniques that will become part of your toy-making toolkit.
This project-based class explores the finer points of three-dimensional toy making, from building shape and structure and achieving beautifully firm, even stuffing, to jointing and positioning limbs and finessing the small details that give a toy its character and heirloom-quality finish. And then there’s the mane. We’ll be sure to give Frankie’s rockstar mane the attention it deserves.
The complete Frankie & Dee pattern is included with the class, with Frankie as our main class focus. You’ll leave with the techniques and confidence to complete Dee independently, whether you begin her during the class or later.
Skill level: All levels.
