Join this modern quilting workshop and learn new techniques as you create the City Streets Sampler, designed to help you build your skills, block by block. Throughout the class, you’ll explore essential techniques including Half Square Triangles, Flying Geese, Star Blocks, Log Cabin, and Quarter Square Triangles, all taught through fresh, modern designs, with a unique construction style that gives this quilt its bold, contemporary edge.

By the end of the workshop, students will have completed a selection of sampler blocks from the City Streets Sampler quilt and gained the confidence to apply these versatile quilting techniques in future projects. The workshop suits confident beginners through to experienced quilters wanting to refine their skills or try new techniques.

Skill level: Suits all levels including beginners

Class Requirements

CITY STREETS SAMPLER WITH JEMIMA FLENDT

TWO-DAY CLASS: Saturday & Sunday, April 17 & 18

Class times: 9am to 5pm

Materials fee: Students need to purchase the PDF Pattern ahead of class to download and print out prior to the workshop so you can complete the cutting ahead.

If you do not want to do this ahead of class, you can purchase the Workshop Booklet on the day for $40. Payable direct to the tutor. Please have the exact amount in cash in an envelope with your name on it.

 

You will need to bring:

*Cutting instructions will be emailed to students ahead of the workshop. (This will help cut down the amount of fabric required to travel with).

  • City Streets Sampler PDF Pattern
  • See detailed fabric requirements
  • Machine piecing thread
  • Rotary cutter
  • Rulers (6½in x 24in, 4½in and 6½in square)
  • Cutting mat
  • General sewing supplies (eg pins, unpicker, spare sewing needles – Universal size 80, small scissors)
  • Erasable marking pen
  • Glue stick
  • Optional: 3½in Block Loc HST Ruler

 

Sewing machines will be provided.

To complete the project at home: you will need backing and binding fabrics.
