With two full days to immerse yourself, Barbie will guide you through mastering each technique step-by-step, sharing her favourite tricks for accuracy, smooth stitching, and effortless assembly. Whether you’re looking to build your fundamental skills or elevate your handwork to the next level, this relaxed, technique-rich class is the perfect way to bring this quilt to life.

Learn these techniques: hand piecing, English Paper Piecing (EPP) and needleturn appliqué.

Class Requirements

ALL THE STARS WITH BARBIE MITCHELL

Two-day Class: Thursday, Friday, April 15 & 16

Class times: 10am to 5pm

Materials fee: $75
Payable direct to the tutor. Please have the exact amount in cash in an envelope with your name on it.

The kit includes:

  • Pattern
  • Full Template Set
  • EPP papers


You will need to bring:

  • Approx six x 6″ squares of low-volume fabrics
  • Vase Block Background: one larger piece (approx 23″ × 28″)
  • Vase Appliqué: one larger colourful print piece (approx 7″ × 11″)
  • A variety of colourful print scraps for your pieced blocks and appliqué flowers (some pieces larger than 6″)
  • Milliners size 10 needles
  • 80wt or 50wt thread
  • Medium-sized fabric scissors
  • Roxanne’s Glue Baste it – for needle turn appliqué
  • Glue Stick / pen – for EPP
  • Sewline trio pencil or your preferred marking pencil
  • Optional: Sandpaper board, small mat & rotary cutter

Tip: Time to raid your stash! Ensure a strong contrast between your low-volume background pieces and bright, colourful prints.

Full pattern fabric requirements to complete the project at home will be provided with the pattern in your class kit.
