Leave with a finished wordplay block and the skills to keep stitching your story in thread.
Students will be provided with two patterns: Barbie’s tool bag and Barbie’s project pouch (that fits in the tool bag). During the workshop you will work on the appliqué pieces for these bags which can then be completed at home.

  • One stripe border 1 ½ x 11 ½ inches
  • One narrow border 2 ½ x 11 ½ inches

For Pouch:

  • One main piece 12 x 14 inches

Appliqué Fabrics:
Raid your scrap bin and bring a variety of fabrics for your appliqué shapes. This is where you can play with colour and pattern! Mix it up with solids, geometrics, and prints. The key is to make sure your appliqué fabrics have a clear and distinct contrast against your background fabrics, so your design really pops. Please ensure that some of your fabric pieces measure at least 5 inches so you have room to cut your shapes.
Note: If doing a large initial on your bag (like Barbie’s b) that fabric piece will need to be at least 10 inches square to have enough to play with.

To complete the project at home the pattern provided will have all details of other fabrics required.
