Marbling

Amanda from In Aetheria Studio brings a specially formulated version of her signature water marbling workshop — where the mesmerising art of water marbling meets textile and fashion design.

Students will be introduced to this ancient yet ever-evolving art form and guided through a demonstration exploring various techniques for applying ink to the marbling bath to achieve a wide range of intricate patterns. They will then practice creating these designs themselves on paper, which can be kept, framed, or used as decorative craft paper.

The session will culminate in developing a unique composition of each student’s own expression — transferring their marbled designs onto A3 fabric swatches, perfect for quilting projects.

Additional fabric pieces (68 × 68 cm) and silk scarves will be available to add on the day for those who wish to explore further. A truly special combination of mediums awaits!

Participants will:

• Learn the fundamental techniques of water marbling.
• Understand how to manipulate colour and pattern on the water surface.
• Gain confidence creating their own marbled compositions.
• Transfer marbled designs onto both paper and fabric (A3 quilting swatches).
• Leave with completed marbled pieces ready for use in quilting or mixed media projects.
