Learn all about English Paper Piecing (EPP) in this comprehensive class covering the various techniques.
Join Emma for a fun introduction to EPP while making this gorgeous Hexagon Tussie Mussie cushion. Multiple techniques will be covered from fussy cutting fabrics to basting and sewing paper hexagons together. Applique and hand quilting with Perle 8 threads will also be taught making this the perfect class for anyone interested in started their EPP journey.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Tussie Mussie EPP Cushion with Emma Jean Jansen
One-day Class: Thursday, April 10
Class times: 10am to 5pm
Students need to bring:
Kit fee in cash in an envelope with your name on the front. There are two options:
Option 1: EPP KIT: $12 – Hexagon Papers and Acrylic Template Only.
Option 2: FULL KIT: $69 – Hexagon Papers, Acrylic Template and fabric to complete one Tussie Mussie Cushion front.

English Paper Piecing requirements:
112 – 5/8” hexagon papers for English paper piecing
1 – 5/8” acrylic hexagon templates for cutting fabric
Fabric requirements:
Bright prints for hexagons:
56 – 2” x 4” rectangles or lots of small scraps
Low volume prints for background squares:
16 – 4.5” x 4.5” squares
General requirements for class
- Thread for EPP and applique – Superior Bottom Line 60wt or Aurifil 50wt (white/cream or something neutral that will match your fabrics)
- EPP Needles (Emma prefers Jeana Kimball Straw Needles Size 9)
- Glue pen and refills
- Small cutting mat and rotary cutter
- Scissors
To complete the project at home you will need (do not bring these items to class):
- Cushion Back: one 17” x 17” square
- Fabric for quilting: two 17” x 17” squares (a plain white is suitable as it won’t be seen)
Batting: two 17” x 17” squares - 12 inch zipper
- Matching thread for piecing and in the ditch quilting
- Spray Baste or safety pins for basting
- Perle 8 threads for quilting
- Needles for hand quilting (Emma prefers Jeana Kimball Embroidery/Redwork Size 9)
- One 40cm (16”) cushion insert
No sewing machines will be used in this class – it will be all handwork.
