TUTOR: WENDY WILLIAMS
Learn about working with wool fabric and the best techniques for wool applique including needle and thread selection as well as stitch techniques.
Basic embroidery stitches will be taught and you will discover ways to develop the basic stitches and explore ways to use them while making this fun project.
Participants will be working on the small applique panels. You will learn about the different threads suitable for applique and embroidery – how best to use them and when to use them.
Wendy will cover construction tips as well – fabric selection, combining prints and plains and fun ways to finish the drawstrings with various embellishments that you can make.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS
Thread Pods with Wendy Williams
One-day Class: Friday, April 11
Class times: 10am to 5pm
Wendy will provide the following supplies (please have the exact cash in an envelope with your name on the front).
- 2 pack wool background and wool felt: $10 OR 6 pack wool background and wool felt: $30 (depending on design)
- 9 x Perle 8 cotton thread kit: $62
- 6 x Wool thread kit: $35
- Pattern: $12 – this is essential for the class
Students need to bring:
- Wool for backgrounds (approx 4″ x 6″) or purchase from Wendy
- Wool felt for applique or purchase from Wendy
- Perle 8 cotton or purchase from Wendy
- Wool threads or purchase from Wendy
- Scissors
- Applique pins
- Embroidery needles
- Freezer paper and paper scissors
No sewing machines will be used in this class – all handwork.
To complete the project at home you will need fabric for outer panels, fabric for lining, bag foam and scraps of batting. These are not needed in class so do not bring them.
