Different techniques of applique are taught.

Students will focus on two blocks and learn techniques to prepare and place shapes onto the background fabric.

The expected outcome is that students learn different techniques with applique so that it makes it easier to choose one that they like.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS

Sweet Tweets with Irene Blanck

Two-day Class: Saturday – Sunday, April 13
Class times:  9am to 5pm (2 hour lunch break)

Students need to bring: 

Students will need to buy the pattern via Irene’s website – www.focusonquilts.com.au

Sweet Tweets is is BOM format.  Students need to buy Months 4 and 5 only for the class.

Also bring:

  • Roxanne’s Glue
  • Needles preferably Size 10 straw needles
  • Karen Kay Buckley circles
  • Fabric markers – Frixion pens, pencils, white gel pens
  • Cotton thread – Irene uses Wonderfil Efina
  • Polyfuse paper
  • ¼ inch Clover bias maker
  • Light Box – essential for class – there will be a number provided but you may prefer to bring your own.

Fabric to complete the 2 blocks – cut and prepare background fabric for the two blocks (instructions in Patterns).

The pattern lists fabric for the complete quilt but you will only need fabric for the two blocks. Background blocks plus fat quarters, fat eights etc. for applique shapes will be needed to complete the full quilt.

No sewing machines in this class – all handwork.
