Di Ford-Hall is the Winner of the Rajah Award in 2015. She has made an immense contribution to quilting in Australia over the last 35 years, as a retailer, a teacher, a designer and author. She is known around the world for making exceptionally beautiful and intricate quilts in a traditional style.
Di is a gifted and passionate teacher who has taught more than 2,500 beginner patchwork students over 24 years in her shop which was one of the first two shops in Victoria at that time.
Her quilts have been exhibited in Australia, China, France, the Netherlands, and the USA, and her first book was an instant sellout. She has become a much sought after designer and teacher in Europe and loves to pass on her passion for traditional techniques.
Recently she designed a quilt which was sold as block of the month instalments and more than two thousand European quilters immediately registered for it. She has put Australian quilting in the spotlight in Europe.
In Australia she is credited with revitalising the technique of broderie perse in quilts.

The Rajah Award acknowledges an outstanding contribution to quilting in Australia, whether it be a contribution as a quilting teacher, designer, author, historian, guild worker, retailer, etc or a combination of work in several of these areas. It is called the Rajah Award in tribute to the historic Rajah quilt made by convict women en route to Australia in 1841.
