FRIDAY LECTURE: New Incarnations

FRIDAY, MAY 27, 5.30PM TO 6.30PM

WITH LOANI PRIOR

You might remember Loani Prior as the Queen of the Tea Cosies, and her four best-selling books filled to the brim with fabulous tea cosy designs. Perhaps you met her as guest artist at Craft & Quilt Fairs in 2013 and 2014, or visited the touring art galleries exhibition, Portraits of a Tea Cosy, 2013 – 2015.

Or you might remember Loani from 10 years teaching her knitted tea cosy workshops at Sturt Winter School, at yarn stores around the country and at her home in the Hills of Noosa.

It is Loani’s exuberant, magical designs that make her stand out from the rest of the crowd. And her love of sharing everything she has learnt along the way.

Loani is now translating all that colour and joy into fabric follies, material mosaics, organic applique – call it what you like. She is making her unique mark in the land of stitching and is ready to share it with you.

In this lecture, Loani will tell you the funny story of a woman completely ignorant of the great big crafting community in Australia and beyond, her accidental return to knitting, her brazen proposal to a publisher and her lucky lucky rise to the lofty position of knitting royalty.  She’ll admit to appalling opinions about quilting and hopes you will forgive all those years spent in the fabric desert.

Lecture fee for the general public is $55
