Welcome

In 2009, we look forward to some exciting developments for the AQC.

As you probably know, we are moving to a larger venue – Melbourne’s beautiful
Royal Exhibition Building at Carlton Gardens, which we’re sure will provide a magnificent setting for the event. We are already picturing the many pieces of superb textile work against the grand backdrop of iconic architecture….

In contrast to this sojourn into history, we are bringing the booking system very much into the present day. This year, class bookings can be made right here online, giving you instant information about whether classes are available and allowing you to secure places immediately. Of course, we will all still be here at the end of the phone should you need to talk to a real person.

So, take your time and browse the site to find out more about the
wonderful tutors and classes this year, and enjoy making your selections.
We look forward to Melbourne in 2009.

See you there!

NEW Feature for AQC!
Babbarra Textile Artists

Women from the Babbarra Women’s Centre, Arnhem Land, NT, will display their indigenous textile art. The work of the Babbarra Designs’ textile artists depicts the landscape, dreamtime stories, spirit beings, bush foods and bush crafts from central Arnhem Land.

The women produce lino-tile designs printed on fabric, each unique with varying tile and colour combinations. Other works include printing,   hand painting, screen printing, tie-dyeing and sewing.

We hope you will take the time to view this exhibition, meet some of the women and see demonstrations.

CONGRATULATIONS to Westalee Designs!
Bill and Leonie West launched their Adjustable Rulers in April this year. They have just appeared on the New Inventors Grand Final and thanks to support by quilters around Australia, Leonie won the People's Choice Series Final!

The Rulers are designed to provide accurate repetition when cutting squares, rectangles, diamonds and triangles. The ruler is two piece and has a locking, adjustable fabric guide. They are easy to use and the results are excellent.

Leonie will be at AQC in 2009 and will carry out demonstrations during the day at the stands of Logan's Patchwork, Punch with Judy and Catharina's Country Collection.
